word shouted by pack members when they've lost the trail and are trying to find their way back onto it |

Words shouted by the pack when they see hash markings that mean they're on the trail |

An Assistant to the Hasher responsible for laying the trail |

Beer Near! |
| Check |
a circle of flour indicating that the trail has gone cold and the pack must split up to find where it starts again. However, sometimes it starts again in 2 (or more) different directions, and one of those will dead-end. |

The ceremonial gathering before/after the run where people are baptised, get down-downs, sing or share vital information such as chalk talk, trail info, phone numbers, do I have a chance to get laid tonight...etc |

Punishment which means that you have to drink a beer as quickly as possible. Normally, the RA is the only one that can order this punishment. The hare(s) always get a down-down after the run. |
| False Trail |
an "X" mark (or sometimes 3 parallel lines) indicating that the trail is a false one. Hashers must go back to the "check" and start looking for true trail again! |

Front Running Bastard or Front Running Bitch, as the case may be. |
| Half-Assed Hasher |
a Lame Hasher that only shows up occasionally and who's hash bark is bigger than their bite. |

the Hasher responsible for laying (marking) the Hash trail |

Money chipped in by each hasher to help cover the costs of hashing (beer, water, coolers, gatorade, flour, grape juice powder, website hosting, advertising, etc!) |

A lie filled tall tale drawn up after each hash to recount the misadventures of the hares and the pack, to make those who missed the hash wish they'd been there and to make those who'd been there wish they'd missed it altogether. |
